YAY - SEPTEMBER IS HERE!

I'm SOOOOoooo eager to see everyone on Tuesday night cuz I think we'll have nearly everyone back on the risers with us!  We've got a lot of things happening in the coming weeks!  Heads up - here are my expectations:

  • All 4 songs that were introduced this summer should be memorized.  If you need some help, contact your section leader (and Section Leaders, be sure to connect with your singers to check on progress, too).  Anyone can contact the others in your section to schedule a small group session to keep the music moving forward.  Be a part of your own success story, and help move the chorus forward musically; sing along with the other parts to check yourself; and wean yourself away from the paper so we can create beautiful music!
    • Fun in Just One Lifetime
    • Forgotten Dreams/Long Ago & Far Away
    • Sister Act
    • After I'm Gone
  • We'll review other repertoire songs so we can be ready to sing for our guests on 9/18:
    • Sweet Dreams (with choreography)
    • Who's Sorry Now (with choreography, practice in front of a mirror)
    • All the Things You Are (with love and passion)
  • Continue to work on these songs in your sectionals and on your own time:
    • Just the Way You Look Tonight - especially the last section from "Lovely, never ever change..."
    • Somebody to Love - sing with other parts so you are aware of how yours fit in.  Perform in front of a mirror!
  • Self-evaluations are continually underway as your personal check for accuracy on lyrics, notes, and rhythms.  Send your recordings to your section leaders for review & feedback.
  • Invite all of your female friends to SING A'CAPPELLA on 9/18.  Share your enthusiasm about OSC!  Even if you've invited someone prevously, remember that our lives are constantly changing so she may be able to sing with us now.  Don't assume anything - we need everyone's help to grow this chorus.  Just think - if each of you invited one person, we'd have 35 guests, and if just 5 of those guests continue with OSC, we'll have a membership of over 40.  We can do this if we work together  Now is the time to make those contacts, or follow up on ones previously sent cuz it's just 3 weeks away.  As you get RSVPs, send the names to me and Lynne Rice, and let us know if you have any additional information (singing experience, voice range, etc.).
  • We'll start Christmas Chorus on October 2 and I'll be posting information here in Kathy's Korner soon.  The marketing team will create an invitation/flyer for you, too.  You'll recognize most of these songs, but I've added a few that I think you'll really love.  Go ahead and get started reviewing these so we can make the most of our Christmas Chorus rehearsals.
    • Happy Holiday
    • Go, Tell it on the Mountain
    • Let There be Peace on Earth
    • BankAmericard
    • Winter Wonderland
    • Jingle Bell Rock
    • NEW - Mary, Did You Know (purchased a legal copy - by popular demand)
    • NEW - O, Holy Night (8-part men/women with SenateAires that we did in 2009)
    • NEW - Joy to the World (8-part men/women with Senateaires that we did in 2009
  • You're doing a great job doing RSVPs in our Meetup group!  We keep adding new friends there, and if you post notes about the upcoming 9/18 open house, it's more likely that they'll take the next step and actually VISIT US!  It only takes a moment of your time, but it can have long-lasting results!

I'll see you on Tuesday night!  Hooray!
