PLAN: Tuesday, Jan 20

1/15/15:   It was great to welcome in 4 new members (3 of whom are former members), as well as 3 new guests this week.  We had nearly everyone in attendance, too, so there was lots of energy in the room!   I love our new “home” at the Elks and I feel it’s really a great move (thanks to Tammy Roberson for finding it for us).

Since we have some local performances coming up (Jan 27 and Feb 1), we’ll be rehearsing those songs this week.  I’d like YOU to work on the choreography so you can SING well and not have to think so much about what the planned moves are.  Of course, most of the showmanship comes from your FACE, so always be aware of the lyrical intent so you are really conveying the meaning of the song/story with your facial expressions.  It’s gotta be natural (if you’re sad in real life, you are likely not smiling; if you are happy in real life, you are likely not frowning) and believable.  It takes work in front of your mirror, and is yet another step towards becoming an even better performer.

It’s very important for you to have your own recording device ON THE RISERS with you at all times (so we don’t have to stop rehearsal for people to run and get them).  You can record the vocal warmups so you can work on them at home; you should record all the songs so you’ve got the most current interpretive plan; and you can also record your sectionals so you’ve got part-dominant recordings to work with.  I’m sure you’re aware that the initial learning tracks are obsolete fairly quickly, so it’s very important that you each take responsibility for updating your own learning/rehearsing tools.   Go girls!  You know most of the work takes place between Wednesday mornings and Monday nights.

Here’s the basic plan for next Tuesday, 1/20:
