INSPIRATIONAL WEEK !!!

I hope lots of you watched at least a portion of the incredible International Competitions this week via the webcast from Houston, TX.  It was an amazing display and talent and creativity - and lots of dedication and commitment to the work towards of excellence.  What a thrill for every group on that stage - to know they were representing their areas of the world on the "big stage".  It truly is inspiring to me --- I get great ideas about songs, choreography, staging, lyrics, interpretations - from choruses and quartets alike.  I bet you did, too!

Do you realize we have the VERY BEST DIRECTOR AND COACH IN THE WHOLE WORLD COMING TO COACH US IN JUST 4 WEEKS?!!!
JIM ARNS - Director of Melodeers Chorus - 5-time International Champions - is coming on November 17th to work with Oregon Spirit Chorus. He is very excited to hear and see us - and will give us such wonderful guidance on how to make what we are doing even better!  But here's my concern....We've had only about 30 people at rehearsals for the past several MONTHS!  I thought that we'd see a return of members in September, but there are still lots of empty spots on the risers.  Out of 47 members - that's pretty dismal (and disappointing) - and it makes it nearly impossible to make the kind of progress I'd like to see.  That is, if you REALLY do want to win in March.

PLEASE do what ever is possible to schedule your time around Thursday nights - make our rehearsals a priority.  Your presence makes an enormous difference to the sound of the group.  You know how different you tend to sing when someone different is next to you, or behind you?  What about when someone is missing?  What about choreography?  It is better (and easier) to do when you've got the expected body standing next to you?

I felt terrible missing last week but am so very appreciative of the deep level of talent we have in OSC to help keep things moving forward.  Let's all make an extra effort to not miss any rehearsals from now on, okay?  Especially in these weeks leading up to JIM ARNS and MARGE BAILEY coming to work with OSC!!!
