It was good to be back at chorus last Thursday (10/11) and I thank you for the big birthday card, the funny hats, and the general feeling of welcome!  I was also pleased to share some thoughts with you following your "town hall" meetings while I was gone.  Now that everyone has been heard, we can move forward to the fun of making music together!  That's what brought us all together!
It's a great time of year to rebuild -with our 8th Annual Christmas Chorus.  At this writing, I have a list of 17 guests so far - keep 'em coming!  Perhaps we'll get a few new members out of this year's batch of guests!  Our goal is to grow the chorus so now is the time to begin, and we know that those new friendships are a part of what establishes the bond with women.  So get to know our guests' names, find out a little about them, help them learn their music, offer to give them a ride, offer to join them at Denney's following rehearsal for some social time.  Think of ways to make them feel very welcome and comfortable.
A big THANKS to ELAINE ROSENBERG, our new Performance Coordinator!  What a good sport when I sorta "railroaded" her into the job, but she has already taken off and run with it.  She's following up on about 5-6 performance opportunities, including making a recording for CCTV in Salem for the holidays - what a great way to share our sound and spirit with the Salem community and the whole Willamette valley!   Elaine is using our website scheduling tool - a great way to monitor how many are able to perform (or not) so be sure to respond to her emails right away because we want to nab those gigs before the time slots are filled.  Thanks again, Elaine - it's just terrific having you proactively managing performances!
We've got 9 songs this season and that will take some extra time to pull together, so please do what you can to carve out a little extra time to learn them.  Contact others in your section to help you - set up a small group session at your house - come early to chorus.  Our guests are going to have quite a challenge in learning all those songs in such a short amount of time before our performances, so your help will be important to their success.  Of course, we want them to be ready for all the performances in November and December, but the big one is Thursday, December 13th - our Christmas Show.  (Be sure to contact Lori McGinty if you can help on any little part of the show!  She'll steer you to the show chair - to be announced soon.
It's definitely good to be home.  Thank you for welcoming me back after a much-needed, incredible vacation!
Love - Kathy
