GIVING THANKS

posted Nov 26, 2014, 2:30 PM by Kathy Scheel

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving - a time when most people stop their busy lives and take a moment to be thankful for what we have.   It's so easy to fall into the habit of thinking what we don't have (money, time, energy, etc.) - but our entire lives can change if we turn it around to a positive way of thinking -- what we DO have.   Here are some of the things for which I'm thankful:

  • The opportunity to work with a group of women who are passionate about making harmony together - musically and emotionally.
  • The thrill of ringing chords every Tuesday night.
  • The silliness we experience together - you're always ready for a goofy laugh.
  • Being the mother of a wonderful son who has been the center of my universe for 27 years.
  • Being generally in good health - no major issues.
  • Good friends who allow me to be myself - and accept all that I am, good and bad.
  • A good job that affords me the flexibility to enjoy my musical endeavors.
  • Good hair and makeup products!
  • A warm home.
  • DirectTV - recording programs, play-back, fast-forward - yes.
  • A loving and wonderful family! Mom is still with us, I got to sing with my sister in a quartet for 2 years, my brother's band is playing on our show next summer, my other brother and I are closer than ever before in our lives.
  • My cat, Puffy, who makes me laugh every day - he's quite a goofball.
  • Coaches who help me continue to learn and to lead my chorus towards being bigger and better in all things.
  • A region that embraces change and seeks out input.
  • Every member of the chorus who works on her homework to make herself and the chorus better!
  • My staff at Jacobs - they are supportive, hard-working, funny, intelligent, and a joy to work with.
  • The challenge of preparing for two contests in 2015 - just 6 months apart.  I love the focus that competition brings us.

THANKS to each of you.  Oregon Spirit is where we are BECAUSE OF YOU!

Have a wonderful and safe holiday season.  I love you.

Kathy
