Last night was a terrific session with Ryan Heller and I'm sure excited about our path ahead as we all renew our commitment to continual personal improvement.  I truly believe that we are going to have another fabulous year at OSC and that makes my heart sing!

February is going to be an unusually busy month for OSC with Valegrams, a performance, and a coaching session all on the same week!  I sincerely appreciate you making plans to participate as much as possible.

The Evening of A'Cappella is an important program that we've been wanting to get on for a few years now, and I'm thrilled to have this opportunity to share our style of music!  We'll be sharing the stage with a lot of amazing college groups, and the audience absolutely loves a'cappella harmonies!   We have a small group (22 singers) and it's not too late to sign up if you haven't already. Let me and Linda Cunningham know right away if you can make it (especially 1-2 more basses).

With the coaching session on 1/24, we actually only have 3 remaining rehearsals to polish all those songs, so I'm expecting YOU to continue your fabulous member-driven approach by working on them at home so they are performance-ready at all times.  They are:
  • Happy Together
  • And So It Goes
  • From a Distance
  • Can't Buy Me Love
  • All the Way
  • Somebody to Love
Rehearse smart.  Use your very best vocal and performance skills every time.  Stretch yourself by doing MORE - use more airflow, more energy, more of your full voice!  Perform with your entire heart as if you are Bette Midler!  Let it fly!  As Ryan said last night, if you wait until Tuesdays to work on your skills, we can never make the progress we want as a group, and we'll never achieve our chorus goals.  One voice makes all the difference, so it's really up to YOU - and I'm countin' on ya!  You sure proved to me last night that you can achieve great things without me; keep up that momentum!!

So here's how the next few weeks of Jan-Feb look:
  • Tues, 1/24..... Lea Beverley coaching
  • Tues, 1/31......Rehearsal
  • Tues, 2/7 ...... Rehearsal (and First Tuesday Bring-a-Friend / Afterglow)

Look at the OSC Calendar on our website and be sure you've made plans to be at each of these sessions.  We want to earn that coveted Most Improved Chorus award, and I know we can do it because I believe in YOU!  Looking ahead, the important dates (in addition to Tuesdays, of course) that should be on your personal calendars are:
  • Sat, 3/11 ......Coaching with Dede Nibler, 9:00-4:00 (plus PVIs on Sunday, by appointment)

  • Spend some time each day building your vocal and performance skills.
  • Sign up for a Personal Vocal Instruction (PVI) with Dede Nibler (send me a note)
  • Valegrams groups prepare to perform for the chorus on 2/7.
  • Invite ladies to come and sing with us so they can get started asap. The cutoff date for Reno will be March 14 (or by director discretion if it's an experienced singer).  Let's have 40+ on stage at contest.
  • Go onto Meetup and write a note about your chorus experiences.  We have 145 members on Meetup; let's show them what a great time we're having at OSC!

In love and harmony,
