ADVANCE to MUSICAL EXCELLENCE!

posted Jan 31, 2018, 11:30 AM by Kathy Scheel

Lynne Rice has agreed to chair the 2018 ADVANCE WEEKEND  - some people call it a retreat but OSC considers it a huge advancement of our skills and love for each other!  Here is the basic information about the weekend.
  • March 10-11 - All day Saturday and Sunday til 2:30ish
  • Canby Grove Christian Center - 7501 S. Knights Bridge Road, Canby, OR (25 minutes north of Salem)
    • website:  https://www.canbygrove.com/home-1/
  • Lodging - Plaza Lodge, Cottages, or Cabins
    • Plaza Lodge - 14 rooms with twin beds - total of 28 beds. Bathrooms down the hall, includes linens & towels.  Bring your own toiletries.
    • Cottages - 3 cottages that sleep 3 people each, with bathrooms, linens & towels.  Bring your own toiletries.
    • Cabins -  several cabins are carpeted and have a queen bed, plus bunk bed, central restroom is nearby. Bring linens, towels, sleeping bag, etc.
  • The Fireside Room is in the first floor of the Plaza Lodge and we'll have our talent show here.  It's also a great place to gather in the morning before breakfast just down the hall.
  • The Tabernacle is where we'll have rehearsals - it has a stage, lighting, sound system, and is heated.
  • Alcohol is not permitted - but we don't need it cuz we'll all be on a "natural high" from the singing!
  • The Talent Show on Saturday features YOU.  Work up a skit/act as a solo or with others in your section; it can be lip-sync, guitar, poetry, quilting, cake decorating, pretty much anything!  Let's see those costumes and creativity in full spring bloom!  Then we'll have time for some traditional goofy games, and we'll also have some karaoke fun.  It's a night that you definitely will remember forever.
  • Lea Beverley is an Expression Judge who is literally known all over the world as an excellent coach for top 10 International Choruses from Australia, Sweden, and all over the United States.  She is able to inspire us all to be better, demanding our best, all with her wonderful wit and humor.  We had her coach us last year and loved her, so we're excited to have her back!
  • Cost per person - $100  (may be offset if everyone sells some Valegrams).  This includes overnight lodging, four meals (Saturday lunch/dinner, Sunday breakfast/lunch).  You will see a charge for $50 on your OSC invoices next week our Finance Manager (Sue deBit) will then let you know how much is owed at the beginning of March.
  • Attached to this post is OSC's Angel Fund Policy and Form, which allows members to borrow money for this type of expense.  If you would like to borrow from OSC's "Angel Fund", contact Sue deBit.
Please contact Lynne Rice with any questions you may have and respond to her emails quickly so she can be sure you've got the lodging you prefer.  Watch here for updates and information on the schedule, what to bring, talent show signups, and more!  What an exciting weekend it's going to be for everyone!

Looking for a Few Crafty Souls

posted Apr 18, 2017, 4:56 PM by Elaine Rosenberg

Each year at contest OSC has the opportunity to present Good Luck cards to our fellow choruses and quartets and to showcase the awesome things we've been up to over the past year in the form of a table top display. We're looking for a few crafty ladies who would like to find or make cards and/or put together a display with some pictures (check out facebook) from the past year. If you have been reluctant to volunteer, these are two excellent, short-term projects to dip your toes in with.

Email Elaine (elaine.rosenberg@oregonspirit.org) if you have any questions.
